Jacksonville, FL., July 9, 2012– On August 11, 2012, the SCLC and the community of Jacksonville will be teaming up with S.W. Roseburgh in hosting the 1st Annual Youth Against Violence Talent Showcase & Forum. S.W. designed this uniquely crafted event while working as the Director of Special Events for the New York State Senate Majority Leaders Office. It was created in an effort to generate youth involvement for a safe and informed community. His passion and commitment for youth empowerment sparked the immediate interest of community leaders such as the SCLC State President, SCLC Youth Director, and other organizations. His initiative inspired a collaborative community effort as the citizens of Jacksonville are excited to get involved.

SCLC’s local and state President, Rev. R. L. Gundy, is excited about the future of the revitalized SCLC and its partnerships with the community. Rev. Gundy states he and the SCLC Youth Director, Donteacia Seymore, CREDI Inc., Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, and the sponsors, including VITAS Inc., are eager to join S.W. Roseburgh and the community to “empower and educate our community because we can do it together but we can’t do it alone.” All organizations and persons involved are confident that with the community of Jacksonville’s support, the ‘Youth Against Violence Showcase and Forum’ and ‘Take it to the Communities’ event will be a catalyst for encouraging our citizens to re-invest in our youth and empower them to take action in our city.
