Comedian Arnez J Interview with Blacksonville

Comedian Arnez Jay
Countdown to Superstars of Comedy, Friday, March 19th, 2010 at Times Union Center for Performing Arts.

A few hours ago, I had the pleasure to interview one the funniest men in performance comedy, Arnez Jay. From the onset of the interview, Arney wasted know time to show his fervor for making people laugh. The first 10 seconds of the interview went something like this…
Jermyn: Man I can’t wait to you come back home so I can laugh my ass off.
Arnez J: Well that wouldn’t be a pretty site with your booty whole on the ground. Ass cheeks just rubbing together, blood everywhere. I mean, that’s just not a good sight! You got your brand new suit on with bloody booty cheeks and a funny walk.
THE INTERVIEW

Q:
You bring a real, vivid, human flare to comedy. What or who do you attribute your talent to?
Arnez J:
Through my family and grandmother, who didn’t try to run my life.  I guess you can say “as a southern boy”, I had to learn a lot on my own.  My parents gave me the freedom to live and learn from my experiences. I didn’t spend all day in church. I kept some of the things that were taught to me for my own value and I learned from that. I spent some time in the military, but for the most part, I’ve been a loner for most of my life.

Q:
Speaking of church, I realize you don’t weigh heavy on “church comedy”. Why is that?
Arnez J:
I am not the comedian that tries to eat off of religion. I say my piece and keep it moving. I am a god fearing man, so my comedy is more about elevating the human spirit through fun and laughter.

Q:
Arnez, I have seen your comedy time and time again. It’s always refreshing and as we say “off the chain”! Where do you get this stuff. Does it just come out of you like a web from a spider?

Arney J:
Man, believe it or not, it comes natural. Just from what I have seen from my experiences. Sometimes I don’t even know when I’m going to do it, it just happens. Like the good book says, the holy ghost will jump you like a thief in the night!

Q:
What else are you involved in outside of performance comedy?

Arnez J:
Murder and mayhem. No, actually man, outside of comedy I try to just build on what I want to do for the future. I’m very much into fishing. I travel a lot. I’m into baseball as I support my son. Through him, I learn more and more how to be successful at some of the things that help me to attain later on.

My wife is kinda of the money watcher to ensure our investments are smart and profitable. She does the things that keep our wheels running right.
My son, he is currently attending IMG Baseball Camp in Bradenton, Florida. (Arnez J bio)

Q:
That’s where they raise the pros, right?

Arnez J:

Yes sir!

Q:
What is the hardest thing about performing stand up comedy?

Arnez J:
I wouldn’t necessarily say comedy is hard. If you are a person who that learn’s from life you always have material.  But you always want to be aware of the need to stay true to your game, true to your fans, but at the same time be refreshing in the things that you are talking about.

Q:
Do you feel that you are now in an a position or have a responsibility to educate the next great comedian?

Arnez J:
No, I don’t feel that’s a responsibility of mine because everybody has to learn at their own pace. I don’t feel I have been deemed the “educator professor of comedy”. No, not me, not at all.

Q:
Any words of encouragement for Duval County before the big show on March 19th at the Times Union Center?

Arnez J:
The only thing that I would say that…I’m so looking forward because we are in a recession. Don’t let the recession be your depression. Laughter is the best thing for the heart now, and its something that’s needed.

So don’t sit home and do nothing. Come on out and prepare yourself for laughter

because the show is going to be a phenomenal show. Don’t be someone that ask about the show, you be there!

Blacksonville! We coming to Jacksonville and it is going to be a blast!

Arnez J Comedian – True Comedy

I truly respect the life of a comedian. To be truly funny, it takes a special perspective on life, because you have to always live in “real time”. You have to make the sad (happy), and the hopeless (hopeful). Over the past decade, I can say from experience Arnez Jay has always given me nothing but positive expectations to look forward to. I have seen him repeatedly in Jacksonville, and each show was always a new adventure.
